The Snow Weasel is not an actual species name for any of the twenty-one species of Weasels, Polecats, or Ferrets. Most Weasels are known to change their coat color depending on the season; the Ermine (alias Mustela erminea) and many other northern Weasels change their coat color to mostly or completely white in the winter. One may find "snow weasels" of varying size in northern Russia, Canada, and the northern United States.
The Ermine weighs in at less than five pounds, but can be a vicious hunter. Ermines have a long, sleek, small body and a long, thin face that reminds one of a cross between a fox and a squirrel. Its keen sense of smell allows it to hunt anything from small birds or frogs to rabbits and other rodents up to two times as large as they. Depending on its habitat, the Ermine can adapt its eating habits and hunting style: its front claws allow it to dig through snow or dirt for forraging, while its razor-sharp teeth allow it to match wits with small mammalian prey.
The snow weasel is the embodiment of what we represent: masters of covert operations, able strike swiftly and without hesitation.
